I made a mistake coming at Wizkid --Skales

When Baseline artist, Skales, made an
appearance on Multi TV’s ‘Let’s Talk
Entertainment‘ programme.

The singer admitted he made a big mistake for
coming at his former EME label mate, Wizkid.

Skales revealed that he now sees himself
growing in the eyes of the public and also some
other people look up to him as a role model.

“That’s one of the mistakes I made and I feel
like I’m growing in the eyes of the public so
definitely, I know that you can never benefit from
things like that. So I’ve become a better person
now, I’m more grown now, I’ve realized that I’m
a role model, a lot of people look up to me and
so there’s some mistakes I cannot do,” Skales
Said.

Meanwhile, with the ongoing allegations of song
theft in the country, Skales said that he is so
certain that nobody can steal his intellectual
property and if anyone does, he will not spare
the fellow.

Olamide was not present at the wedding despite having
a close relationship with Toolz. The YBNL chief just
returned to Instagram after a 8 days exile. Looks like
his account was hacked or something.

Buhari rejects devaluation of Naira

President Muhammadu Buhari declared late Wednesday in
Nairobi, Kenya, that he was yet to be convinced that Nigeria and
its people will derive any tangible benefit from an official
devaluation of the Naira.

Speaking at an interactive meeting with Nigerians living in
Kenya, President Buhari maintained that while export-
driven economies could benefit from devaluation of their
currencies, devaluation will only result in further inflation and
hardship for the poor and middle classes in Nigeria’s
import-dependent economy.

The president added that he had no intention of bringing further
hardship on the country’s poor who, he said, have suffered
enough already.

Likening devaluing the Naira to having it “killed”, President
Buhari said that proponents of devaluation will have to work
much harder to convince him that ordinary Nigerians will
gain anything from it.

The president also rejected suggestions that the Central
Bank of Nigeria should resume the sale of foreign exchange to
Bureaux de Change (BDCs), saying that the Bureau de
Change business had become a scam and a drain on the
economy.

“We had just 74 of the bureaux in 2005, now they have grown
to about 2,800,” President Buhari noted.

He alleged that some bank and government officials used
surrogates to run the BDCs and prosper at public expense by
obtaining foreign exchange from government at official
rates and selling it at much higher rates.

“We will use our foreign exchange for industry, spare parts and the development
of needed infrastructure.
“We don’t have the Dollars to give to the BDCs. Let them go and get it from wherever they can, other than the Central Bank,” President Buhari told the gathering.

The president reaffirmed his conviction that about a third of petroleum subsidy
payments under the previous
administration was bogus.

“They just stamped papers and collected our
foreign exchange,” he said.

The president appealed to Nigerians studying abroad to bear with his
administration as it strives to address the challenges they are facing as a result of new
foreign exchange measures.

He said that he was optimistic that the Nigerian economy will stabilize soon with
the efficient implementation of measures and policies that have been introduced by
his administration.

Nigeria Army commenced training for 600 soldiers

In order to ensure that soldiers live a comfortable
life after serving their father’s land, the Nigerian
Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC),
Oshodi, has commenced training for over 600
soldiers.

The Nation reports that Commandant NAFRC, Air
Vice Marshal Mike Iloenyosi, on Thursday, January
28 told newsmen that the training was to ensure
retired military personnel have decent and
sustainable livelihood.

Iloenyosi, inaugurated the soldiers into the six
months pre-retirement course, disclosed that about
80% of the trainees were from the Nigerian Army,
adding that the vocational training institution was
set up to ensure smooth transition for retiring
military personnel.

He said the trainees will be equipped with skills
and trades that would enable them live a good life
after retirement. He noted that the centre does not
prepare officers for re-engagement in the military
after retirement, reiterating that the lectures the
trainees will receive are meant for profitable, self-
sustainability and easy integration into the civil
society.

“The training they get here is not to be redrafted for
active service. The essence of this course is to give
them vocational skills and entrepreneurial knowledge
to be able to manage their resources more efficiently,
as well as easily adapt to post – service life.

“These gallant soldiers have been in service for an
average of 35 years and so, redrafting them into
active or combat service is not the essence, rather, it
is for them to be adequately prepared to manage
their resources and package, so that if some of them
have cottage industry, for instance, they will be able
to run same well.

“You must call to mind that their capital base is
minimal and so, we are interested in their being able
to harness it through low capital budget ventures,”
he said.

Arms deal: Bank workers, PR consultant open up on deals with Oliseh Metuh.

A public relations consultant and prosecution
witness in the ongoing trial of the National
Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh, Mr. Olayinka
Okunsanya, yesterday told a Federal High Court
how Destra Investment Limited, owned by Metuh
paid him N77.5 million to carry out publicity jobs
for the PDP.

Okusanya is the managing directors of CMC
Connect, a public relations consultant firm that is
into publicity, promotions, image management
and media-related services.

In his evidence in chief, the witness (PW6) said
Metuh, through Destra, paid him the money “for
jobs we did for the PDP.

He said: “In December 2014, Metuh, through
Destra, paid N7.5 million in cheques in my name
which was transferred to my company
“On December 15, 2014, he transferred N70
million through his company again after which we
commenced publicity work for the PDP.”

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
(EFCC) has arrainged Metuh on a seven-count
charge of money laundering to the tune of N400
million.

The anti-corruption agency alleged that he
received the money from the former National
Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki (retd), which
it claimed was part of the $2.1 billion meant for
the purchase of arms.

Another witness, Kabiru Ibrahim, a Bureau De
Change (BDC) operator, said he received $1
million from a previous witness, PW1, Nneka
Ararume.

In her testimony as PW1, Ararume, a staff of
Assets Resource Management Company (ARM)
and an investment officer to Metuh, said the
money was given to Ibrahim to sell.

Ibrahim told the court that he was called by PW1,
who gave him $1 million to sell at the rate of
N183 in early December 2014.

The money, totalling N183 million, was later
transferred to the account of Destra Investments
Limited, Olisa Metuh’s company.

He said he had never personally sold dollars to
Metuh at any point in time.

According to the witness, “She paid me in cash,
through my account with Diamond Bank and I
transferred the money to that account, Destra,”
The witness also said he never did anything
wrong in selling dollars to Ararume.

“I don’t know, I don’t have limit.”
Ibrahim also agreed that the huge fund transfer
he made was done legitimately by his bank,
Diamond Bank.

Meanwhile, a staff of Diamond Bank, Eno-Mfon
Effiong, who is also an account officer of the five
accounts belonging to Metuh and his company,
also told a Federal High Court how N400 million
was paid into the company’s account by the
Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

The witness, who was testifying as prosecution
witness on Wednesday, said on November 24,
2014, the account of Destra Investments Limited
was credited with N400 million from the office of
the NSA under code CBN/CIFTS/MAT SEC ADBIS,
which in simple terms means that it is a credit
from the ONSA.

Metuh’s trial has been adjourned to February 4 at
the instance of his counsel.

Femi Falana says Okonjo Iweala records in office is appalling. (read full details)

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana has replied former
Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala who on
Monday Jan. 25, described him as an Intergrity
Challenged Charlatan in a statement she released. In a
statement released on Sunday January 24th, Falana
had attempted to link Okonjo-Iweala to the $2.1 billion
scandal, calling for her arrest and prosecution.
Reacting to Okonjo-Iweala’s statement, Falana
yesterday in his own statement, accused her of being
quick to deflect criticisms by accusing anyone seeking
to hold her to account for her ‘appalling records’ in
government, of having ulterior political motives. The
statement in part reads

“When Prof Chukwuma Soludo alleged that about N30tr
could not be accounted for under her watch he was
described as “an embittered loser. When comrade
Adams Oshiomole questioned the illegal withdrawal of
$2bn from the Excess Crude Account, he was accused
of having animus towards her because she had blocked
Edo State from obtaining a loan.

Therefore, instead of exchanging vulgar abuse with the
former Minister I shall respond to the diversionary
allegations which lacerated her response and the
attempt to extricate herself from the mass looting of
the commonwealth under her watch.

The claim that I am unfamiliar with the mandate of the
ICC shows that Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala has not been
following the practice of the court and its active and
robust approach to its mandates, in particular with
regard to the investigation of crimes in Darfur, the
warrant of arrest for Joseph Kony (Uganda), and the
warrant of arrest for Ahmad Harun, (Sudan).

In many decided cases, the ICC has expanded its
mandate to humanitarian issues, aimed at forestalling
and impeding the perpetration of crimes which cause
gross human rights abuse. There is absolutely nothing
in the Rome Statute of the ICC to suggest that the
court cannot address impunity for enormous financial
crimes (and its crippling impact) which took place
while Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala was the Finance Minister and
the Coordinating Minister of the economy.

Dr. Okonjo-Iweala also claimed that my petition against
her to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
(EFCC) “were lacking in credibility”, without any
substantiation of what this means or specific rebuttal
of the allegations contained in that petition. She has
however not denied the accuracy of the claims in my
petition. Whereas the former Finance Minister had
insisted that only $500 million was recovered from the
Abacha loot my petition detailed the recovery of $4
billion. As she could not challenge my claim Dr.

Okonjo-Iweala now says that the $500 million was the
amount recovered while she was the Minister of
Finance under President Obasanjo. In making that
claim she did not take cognizance of her recent
statement that while she gave out $322 million to Col.
Dasuki the sum of $700 million had been set aside for
development. From her own account, over $1 billion
was recovered from the loot under the Jonathan
regime when she was coordinating the economy.

Dr. Okonjo-Iweala has continued to give the erroneous
impression that she rendered selfless service to the
nation. But while her colleagues who served as
Ministers under President Olusegun Obasanjo were paid
their salaries and allowances in the local currency she
received hers in dollars despite a judgment of the
Court of Appeal which had declared the payment illegal
and unconstitutional in the case of Fawehinmi v The
President (2007) 14 NWLR (Pt 1054) 275. In order to
weep up sentiments Dr. Okonjo-Iweala referred to the
unfortunate kidnap of her 84-year mother, two years
ago. But it is public knowledge that the lumpen
elements involved in the kidnap were arrested by the
Lagos State Police Command.

From the report of police investigation the kidnappers
were palace guards who were inspired by sheer
avarice. In fact, they were arrested by the Police
following the disagreement over the sharing of the N12
million ransom paid to them for the criminal enterprise.

In the Appropriation Act of 2011, the sum of N245
billion was budgeted for fuel subsidy. But at the end of
the year, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala had authorized the illegal
payment of about N2.5 trillion to a cabal of fuel
importers. As usual, she washed off her hands like
Pontius Pilate. In order to unearth the monumental
fraud I petitioned the EFCC and gave or*l testimony
before the House of Representatives Committee which
separately investigated it.

In the same vein, I have just asked the Group
Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum
Corporation under the Freedom of Information Act to
provide information on the failure of the NNPC to pay
into the Federation Account the sum of $9.7 billion out
of the $11.8 billion dividends paid by NLNG from
2004-2014. I have equally demanded information from
the NEITI over its claim that the NNPC and some oil
companies are indebted to the Federal Government to
the tune of $19.1 billion. Dr. Okonjo-Iweala’s claim that
I own the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability
Project (SERAP) is far-fetched and laughable.

A simple google search would have shown her that
while I am one of the legal advisers of the
organization, there are other very distinguished lawyers
and academics of international repute on SERAP’s
board. Her claim that SERAP is ‘discredit’ is the exact
opposite of reckless characterization because it is an
organization that has won national and international
recognitions—including nomination for the UN civil
society award; the Ford Foundation Jubilee
Transparency Award; and the Wole Soyinka Anti-
Corruption Defender Award. It is my belief that the
recovered loot should be channeled towards job
creation and infrastructural development. Therefore, all
hands should be on deck to ensure that the recovered
loot is not criminally diverted by another set of
looters”the statement read.

sum of 4,000 riaait (Malaysian currency). Aroke
admitted sending the money to Nigeria through one
Angela, who later helped him deposit its naira
equivalent, N25,000,00 (Twenty-five million Naira
only), in a new generation bank.

Upon his arrest, two exotic cars valued at
N23,000,000 (Twenty-three million naira) were
recovered from him.

Justice Okunnu ruled that the sentence should run
concurrently. Meanwhile, Aroke has two other
matters yet undecided before Justice B. Idris of
the Federal High Court Lagos.

While it is good that justice has been served and
we are by no means encouraging scams, the
disparity between sentences for financial crimes
by normal Nigerians versus politicians is very
jarring.read full details about Malaysian based yahoo boy sentenced to 24 years imprisonment in Lagos

See photos of wizkid latest baby mama with Davido, Usher Raymond and K Cee

Several photos have surfaced showing Wizkid’s
latest babymama, Binta Diamond Diallo with
Nigerian and international singers.

The Guinean born US-based video vixen was
spotted separately with her baby daddy’s rival,
Davido, Kcee and Usher Raymond. The photos
were believed to have been taken at different
times in the city of Atlanta Georgia.

The photos were taken from her instagram page
@bluediamond224.

The news of Binta’s love child hit the blogosphere
about 24 hours ago although the Ojuelegba crooner
has kept mum ever since.

Baby Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun reportedly arrived
about a week ago in a United States hospital.

Senator Shehu Sanni Lamented :over $200 billion dollars Nigerian stolen money is in Dubai

Over $200 billion that was stolen from Nigeria is
now in the United Arab Emirate country of Dubai,
Senator Shehu Sanni has said.

The chairman, Senate Committee on Foreign and
Domestic Debts, as well as Vice Chairman, Senate
Committee on Foreign Affairs noted that some of
the money have been used to purchase exotic cars
and posh houses.

Sani revealed this when women supporters from his
political ward paid him a solidarity visit at one of
his campaign offices in Kaduna.

President Muhammadu Buhari, last week in UAE,
signed a “Judicial Agreements on Extradition,
Transfer of Sentenced Persons, Mutual Legal
Assistance on Criminal Matters, and Mutual Legal
Assistance on Criminal and Commercial Matters,
which includes the recovery and repatriation of
stolen wealth.

He said: “Corrupt Nigerians have stashed
unbelievable amount of monies in Dubai alone in
the name of estates acquisition, purchase of exotic
houses and business partnership in the last 16
years. Some have stashed raw cash. This is why
the US, and Europe are making conditions for
laundering of money into their countries very
difficult.

“These crooks have now found it conducive to use
the Middle East and South East Asia as their
destinations. They use names of their cronies,
family members and friends to siphon public funds
out of Nigeria.

“Some of them are APC members, who had their
political upbringing in the then ruling Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP.

“Sooner than later those who are parading
themselves as Buhari’s friends, but are corrupt, will
be interrogated, prosecuted because the President
does not know friend or relation as far as the fight
against corruption is concerned.”

“It was based on the information on the quantity
and quality of the assets of corrupt Nigerians, that
President Buhari had to sign that agreement with
UAE at Abu Dhabi. I can tell you that it was smart
and patriotic move.

“Let me advise the President to steer clear of
hypocrites, because it is better to live with an
enemy than hypocrite because hypocrite derives
joy from stabbing one’s back.

“Over $200 billion Dollars are stashed away from
Nigeria to Dubai alone. This may the monies stolen
since in the past 20 years. I am not talking about
estates and bonds and other securities bought with
Nigeria stolen money.

Uk, Us reject Biafra passport

A passport issued by the Movement for the
Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra
(MASSOB) has been rejected by the governments
of the United States and the United Kingdom.

This is contrary to a statement by the National
Director of Information, MASSOB, Sunny Okereafor,
who said two weeks ago that the passport was
valid worldwide, adding that the travel document
costs N5,000 while its renewal costs N2,000.

In a response by email to Punch, the Deputy Public
Affairs Officer at the US consulate, Frank Sellin,
said, “The United States does not consider
passports purporting to be from a Biafra entity to
be a valid legal document for purposes of visa
issuance.”

The UK does not recognise the

“The position of the UK Government during the

Government’s position, which reflected the Charter

Group says Buratai should also be probe by EFCC on arms deal scandal.. Read.....

A group known as Save The Nation Movement
(STNM) advises anti-graft commission to include
Buratai in the current investigation of abuse of
funds meant for the purchase of weapons in the
war against Boko Haram.

The group wondered why President Muhammadu
Buhari didn’t include the COAS into the list of
retired and serving officers of the Nigeria air force
and Nigerian army that must be investigated by the
EFCC.

However, Buratai, who was said to be the director
of purchase between 2012 and 2015, was omitted.

Steven Chilaka, national secretary of the
movement, said in a statement published on
January 24, Sunday: “Major General Tukur Buratai
was appointed director of procurement DHQ in 2012,
a position he held until May 2015 that he was
appointed force commander of the Multinational Joint
Task Force (MJTNF), an appointment he held till he
became chief of army staff.”

“As director of public procurement at the DHQ, all
procurements by the military between 2012 and May
2015 passed through his office. Our question is; how
can you probe procurement of arms within this
period without the involvement of Major General
Buratai, the man who was the director of
procurement?

“Could procurements have been made without his
involvement during the period that he was director of
procurement?

“Definitely, it won’t be funny if President Muhammadu
Buhari’s fight against corruption is also selective
against the military as it already appears to be
against the political class and the president must
look into this obvious case of selective probe as a
matter of urgency.”

President Buhari has last week directed the anti-
corruption commission to “ carry out further
investigation into the misconduct established against
some retired and serving officers of the Nigeria air
force and Nigerian army.”

Garba Shehu, president’s media aide, who issued
Buhari’s order in a statement, clarified that the
committee launched to review the procurement of
weapons and equipment in the armed forces from
2007 to 2015, had recommended 20 serving and
retired military personnel for probe.

President Barak Obama explain why he wont give a apeech at daughter's graduation.

President Barack Obama is preparing himself
for his eldest daughter’s high school
graduation, but he’s aware his emotions will
get the best of him when he sees Malia Obama
walk across the stage to receive her diploma.

ABC News reports the president opened up
about his daughter’s big day during lunch at
the Jolly Pumpkin Brewery in Detroit on
Wednesday. Obama was in town to attend
the North American Auto Show at Cobo
Center.

Turns out, Obama was actually given the
opportunity to speak at the 17-year-old’s
ceremony, but he turned it down because
he’ll be too busy crying.

ABC News reports:
“Malia’s school asked if I wanted to speak at
commencement and I said no,” the president
said. “I’m going to be wearing dark glasses …
and I’m going to cry.”

The entirety of President Obama’s comments
could not be overheard as his exchange was
caught only sporadically on audio.
Malia is currently in her senior year at the
prestigious Sidwell Friends School in
Washington.

It’s unclear what she will study once she goes
to college, but the teen has interned on the
set of HBO’s Girls and Halle Berry’s drama
Extant, both of which highlight her interest in
TV and film.

R Kenny opens up to GQ about Aaliyah, sexual abuse and his infamous child pornography case

There’s no doubt that R. Kelly was and still is the King
of R&B. He’s written and produced hits for himself as
well as a slew of artists such as Michael Jackson and
Aaliyah, which we’ll get to later. For whatever reason,
many people that have amassed success over the
course of their careers eventually find themselves
involved a scandal, although it could just be one of
those things that comes along with the territory.

For R. Kelly, his childhood was the onset of feelings of
shamefulness when he began being sexually abused by
a close female family member. He told the interviewer,
Chris Heath, that he forgives his relative for putting him
through that, but then he offered a very chilling
perspective on the situation as a now, 48-year old man.

“As I’m older, I look at it and I know that it had to be
not just about me and them, but them and somebody
older than them when they were younger, and whatever
happened to them when they were younger,” Kelly
explained. “I looked at it as if there was a sort of like, I
don’t know, a generational curse, so to speak, going
down through the family. Not just started with her
doing that to me.”

If this is the case, then based on R. Kelly logic, he
wouldn’t that mean he’d ultimately inherit the role as
perpetrator? GQ’s Chris Hill thought so too and he
asked, “Well, if that passes down, why didn’t it pass
down to you?” The Pied Piper of R&B, a name that he
shockingly answers to, compared that generational
curse to the generational curse of poverty. “I decided
that I’m gonna stop that curse. I’m not gonna be broke,
like my mom was broke, my uncles were broke, my
sisters didn’t have money, my cousins on down.
Generational curse doesn’t mean that the curse can’t
be broken.”

GQ : So what did you have to do to break a generational
curse? To make that not be you?
K : “Well, it’s really not about breaking it. There’s things
that you don’t want to do that you’re not gonna do. It
was just as simple as that. I want to be able to be a
father to my kids, where I’ve never seen my father, but
my kids can see me whenever they want, so that was
broken. [He and his wife Andrea divorced in 2009, and
in practice, for reasons he suggests are beyond his
control, he rarely sees his three children.] The poverty
part was broken. And I feel the child-molestation part,
that definitely was broken. But of course you gonna be
misunderstood because you R. Kelly, and the success
and things get mixed up in the music, and people take
the words you sing in your songs and try to pound that
on your head and say, ‘Ahh! You did do it—look what
you just wrote over here.’ ”

It’s obvious that he did break the curse of poverty, but
there seems to be some half-truths embedded his
claims. Back in 1994, R. Kelly had just met new artist,
Aaliyah and began working on her album Age Ain’t
Nothin’ But A Number. Months later, a marriage
certificate dated August 31st, 1994 popped up in
Rosemont, IL showing that Robert Kelly and Aaliyah
had just got married. It also stated that Aaliyah was 18
when she was actually just 15, meanwhile Kelly is
sitting at a smooth 27.

Interviewer, Chris Heath, had asked Kelly what he saw
in Aaliyah, musically, when he slaw her for the first time
to which Kelly responded:
K : “Aaliyah? I heard first of all this soft voice, but
very…a lot of charisma. And I saw her as a star the
minute I heard her sing and dance. Saw her dance.
She wasn’t the greatest dancer, but the dance moves
she was doing were different than the other dancers
that I’ve seen on television. And I said, ‘This girl’s
gonna be a star, whether I work with her or not.’ ”
GQ: Obviously the two of you became very close.
K : “Yeah. Yeah.” How would you describe that? “Uh, I
would describe it as best friends. Deep friends. As far
as we both loved music and wanted to be successful.
She’s a Capricorn, I’m a Capricorn, my momma a
Capricorn, her daddy’s a Capricorn, you know. It was
just so much in common with each other.”
GQ: And these are difficult questions but would you
say you were in love with her?
K : “Yes. I would say I loved ‘liyah.” But “in love”? “Well,
there’s a lot of ways to be in love with a person. I was
in love with my grandfather, you know. But yeah, I
would say I was in love with Aaliyah just like I was in
love with anybody else. But in a different, friend TYPE
of way.”
GQ: And she was in love with you?
K : “I would think so. Absolutely. I would say that.”
GQ: As you know, people know that there was a
wedding ceremony and you got married.
K : “Well, because of Aaliyah’s passing, as I’ve always
said, out of respect for her mother who’s sick and her
father who’s passed, I will never have that conversation
with anyone. Out of respect for Aaliyah, and her mother
and father who has asked me not to personally. But I
can tell you I loved her, I can tell you she loved me, we
was very close. We were, you know, best best best
best friends.”
GQ’s Chris Heath could not let R. Kelly go without
asking him about his infamous trial in which he was
charged with child pornography back in 2002. It took
six years for the case to go to trial and instead of the
singer crumbling under the stresses of his trial, he
released one of his biggest commercial hits Ignition
(Remix). Despite all that he was being accused of, why
did so many people still chose to support him, unlike
the persecution that Bill Cosby is enduring? The singer
implies that his success is directly related to the fact
that people never believed the accusations in the first
place. The interview lowkey claps back though. Check
out what they had to say:
GQ: I don’t think there’s many people who believe that
wasn’t you in the videotape.
K : “You say you don’t what?”
GQ: I don’t think there’s many people who believe you
weren’t in that videotape.
K : “You don’t think it’s many people?”
GQ: I think everyone thinks that it was you.
K : “Even the ones that buy my albums?”
GQ: Yes, absolutely.
K : “And sell out my shows and buy the tickets?”
GQ: Yes.
K: “So what do you think they think about that?”
GQ: I think people really like your records, and they
think they don’t have to hate you.
K: “So you think my records overwhelm what they think
about me?”
GQ: In truth? Absolutely. For instance, when the
accusations first emerged and you were first charged,
you came out with “Ignition”… And, to be blunt, the
record was too good.
K: “That’s an opinion. That’s your opinion.”
GQ: You asked my opinion.
K: “The record was so good that it overwhelmed…?”
GQ: Yes. That’s what I think.
K: “I don’t think so. I don’t think so. I just think those
people didn’t believe that nonsense. That’s what I
think. And they said, ‘The hell with what other people
are saying—we love R. Kelly, we believe R. Kelly, he
was found innocent, he’s moving on with his life, he’s
not letting that tear him down.’ I believe that’s what it
was.”
GQ: Well, the trial didn’t happen until years after that.
And no one is found innocent. You were found not
guilty. But when they interviewed the jurors who would
talk afterwards, they pretty much all said that it was
you in the video.
K: “Well, then, why didn’t they find me guilty? They
loved ‘Ignition’?”
GQ: No. They didn’t find you guilty because they
couldn’t be sure that the other person in the video was
who the prosecution said it was, and hence they
couldn’t be sure that person was underage. That’s why
you were found not guilty.
K: “Well, to be honest with you, man…however,
whatever, whenever. When a person is found not guilty,
they’re found not guilty. And it doesn’t matter if it’s a
murder case, it doesn’t matter what case it is, when
they’re found not guilty, they’re not guilty. And I think
that a lot of haters out there wanted to see me go
down.”

Borno elders name sponsors of Boko Haram

All those who have been fingered in the
controversial theft of funds meant to purchase
arms for soldiers combating insurgency in
northeast Nigeria are the real sponsors of Boko
Haram, Borno Elders Forum have said.

The group said President Muhammadu Buhari
should not waste his time searching for those
funding Boko Haram as the arms deal controversy
had uncovered those to be punished for all the
destruction in the north east.

The Borno elders made this comment in a
statement signed by their chairman, Ambassador
Gaji Galtimari.

They said: “Much has been said about the
sponsors of Boko Haram. With the horrifying
revelations about the ‘Arms Deal’, it is no longer
necessary to continue delaying the search for the
real sponsors of Boko Haram. Those who collected
such huge sums of money from the national
treasury and converted same for their unending
greed and avarice should be regarded as part and
parcel of the sponsors of Boko Haram. Get them
and you will get the rest.

“The people who sponsored the activities of Boko
Haram or those who deliberately turned away from
their official responsibilities on security issues, or
those who looted the funds meant for the
prosecution of the war against Boko Haram, and
those who spoke or continue to speak in their
favour are all one and the same.

“They all individually and collectively aided and
sponsored the Boko Haram insurgency. They
colluded to ensure the death of our brave soldiers,
our innocent people and the near total destruction
of our society. Nigerians should stand by us and
collectively assist to bring those responsible to
book. “

The elders, who had been a strong critical voice at
the way and manner the former government went
about prosecuting the Boko Haram insurgency, said
the revelations coming from the arms deal scandal
had vindicated them.

“Since the outbreak of the Boko Haram uprising in
2009 to date, the Borno Elders Forum had been
voicing out at every critical stage of the crisis,
proffering possible ways of addressing very critical
security and social issues.

“However, until the advent of the current
government under President Muhammadu Buhari,
we were ignored. We are somehow relieved that
not only the present government but the generality
of our Nigerian compatriots are now showing great
understanding and compassion on our sorry state
of existence.”

While the group expressed grateful to President
Buhari and the patriotic armed forces of Nigeria
“for the turn of events in our land,” it stated its
concern and betrayed by some Nigerians who
seem to justify the killings and suffering heaped on
inhabitants of the affected region.

“The massive killing of our people, the wholesome
destruction of our settlements, the massive
humanitarian crisis faced by over two million
internally displaced persons, the creation of
hundreds of thousands of widows and orphans and
so on, seem to be of no consequence to some
Nigerians,” he lamented.

Wizkid accused of stealing again( Read full details)

Starboy act, Wizkid has landed another song theft
accusation in the space of two weeks from another
artiste following a similar clash with singer, Dammy
Krane.

The latest one comes from veteran dancehall act
and a former member of the defunct Afro-pop
singing trio, Plantashun Boyz, Ahmedu Augustine,
widely known as Blackface.

According to him, the popular hit tune, Ojuelegba
by the singer was jacked from one from of his
songs entitled, Killa off his 2010 Dancehall
Business album.

“If you check properly, you would realise that
Wizkid’s hit, Ojuelegba, sounds exactly the same as
the track 13 on my dancehall album released as far
back as 2010. You need to listen to that album to
know what I am talking about. The song is so
similar that I think it shouldn’t be that way,”
Blackface alleged in an interview with Punch.

“Well, in Killa, I sang that “they tried to copy my
melody,” and the bloggers got a hint of the gist
and put their reports out. What I said is the truth
and I am going to get to the root of this matter
because I deserve justice.

“The Ojuelegba song has made so much revenue
for Wizkid. I am not bothered about that but I want
the industry to be in a position whereby people will
understand that some of the artistes and the songs
they are cheering is someone else’s efforts,
especially fellow artistes that they are doing
everything to bring down. All they are doing is to
bring down Blackface and to say that he is not
relevant in the industry. Some people are bent on
killing my legacy. I believe there is definitely a
gang-up against me in the industry and this has
been going on for a long time,” he said.

“There was a time Wizkid followed me on twitter
and I told him that I don’t want him taking my
songs and that if he wants to do any of my rhythm,
he should let me know. I told him that because I
was just being a big brother to him. I told him that
our songs can’t be sounding so similar and that if
he wants anything, he should let me know. But
after some time, he ‘unfollowed’ me and it was
shortly after then that the Ojuelegba song was
released. I don’t have any problem with Wizkid or
any other person, all I am saying is that they
shouldn’t be tampering with my songs because
those are my properties.

“Wizkid and I do different kinds of music and he
doesn’t have my type of skill. I don’t have a
problem with that. I am only bothered when
somebody takes my song and tries to turn it around
into theirs without giving me due credit,” he said.
